Bangladesh
Bangladesh is where Global Interaction (formerly ABMS) first began its work more than 120 years ago. Since the early 1970s, ministry in Bangladesh has been led by local people, although Global Interaction, through Geoff Ryall, continues to offer advice, training and financial support for partner organisations and church groups.
India
Global Interaction has been involved in Assam in North-East India since 1947, seeing churches established among the Boro, Rabha, and Garo people groups. However, since 1970, expat cross-cultural workers have not been permitted to reside in the area. Therefore, support for these churches has been in the form of scholarships for leadership training, subsidies for ministry programs, and visits by Australian Baptists for teaching and pastoral encouragement. A number of cross-cultural workers from Mizoram, in north-east India, are seconded to serve with Global Interaction.
