The people group

The Bengali people of South Asia have great physical, social and spiritual needs. Almost half the population tries to survive on an income below the poverty line. Illness, poverty and inadequate health services result in an average life expectancy of only 63 years. Fewer than half the population is literate, and many have only limited education.

Primary language: Bangla
Primary religion: Islam

The cross-cultural team

The team, some of whom are based in Australia, others in South Asia, works in a multi-facetted ministry in association with local staff. Through the locally-led development organisation, the team is involved in running a wide range of development projects: a fisheries project; a training organisation; and, in the near future, a publishing venture. The team and local partners focus on bringing whole-of-life transformation.
