Details

Lyndal and the team at the Chiang Rai Christian Service Centre (CRCSC) in Thailand work with orphaned children and their extended families to assist those extended family members to care for them.  The CRCSC project is now a foundation and has changed its name to Life Impact Foundation Thailand (LIFT).

Their work is multi-faceted, including the following programs:

School Education Programs (HIV / AIDS awareness and education)
Children are educated about HIV / AIDS, and as part of this program, the children go on a camp and do some intense activities to train them in "peer teaching", so that they can pass on the information they learn in the school program to their peers and to younger grades in the school.  Between 50 and 70 children attend each camp.
$2,000-$2,600 per camp
$80 per program per school, for a year (covers transport, resources, etc)

Education Needs
The CRCSC/LIFT team try to provide the new children to whom they are introduced who are poor and in need of help, with school uniforms, books, shoes etc so that they have everything they need to study at school, the same as their class mates.
$80 per primary school student, $110 per high school student

Income Generation Projects
Children whose extended families are particularly poor can benefit from income generation projects, as they help their extended family  earn money to put towards the child's education expenses.
They can range from:
Catfish in cement tanks: $130
Fish in earth ponds: $100
Crickets: $170
Chickens: $170
Pigs: $220
Cows: $350

Project Running Costs
The CRCSC/LIFT team have additional costs associated with these projects, such as renting an office space and travel costs.  This project will also help meet some of these costs.
