Details
Arthur and Debbie intend to be in Malawi for the long term, and much of their first term of service will be spent learning the basics and then gaining some proficiency in the Yawo language, and beginning to understand the culture. They will need lots of exposure and practice, both in formal lessons and doing follow up study based on audio recordings they make during their lessons, and in interacting with people from day to day in places such as the market. They will have one or more Yawo language helpers to work with them and answer questions.
Learning a new language is a slow process, despite the number of hours Arthur and Debbie will commit to this task, but it’s worth it! Your gift towards this project will be an incredibly worthwhile investment in Arthur and Debbie’s long term ministry in Malawi.
