Details
In the rural area of Thailand where several of our families and their children live, the local schools only teach in Thai. This means that the children of our team members need to complete their education via home schooling. They use an Australian curriculum through one of the schools of the air, similar to children who live in remote locations in Australia. Someone is still required to guide the children through their lessons, however, and in the absence of a teacher this job is usually left to the children’s mother.
Volunteer teachers are a wonderful blessing to the team, as they free up both parents for ministry and they can rest assured their children are receiving a great education.
Volunteers often require some financial assistance to get to Thailand and support themselves, so the team would like to create a fund to help with these expenses. This fund would help cover costs such as their visas which would need to be renewed each 3 months, rent and utilities. Gifts to the fund would be used as required, to help volunteer teachers join the team for several months and hopefully enable them to stay a bit longer!
Project costs (per teacher):
3 visas for 3 months each:
$1,290
Rent ($70/month):
$840
Utilities ($20/month):
$240
