Details

There is no Medicare in Mozambique, so keeping healthy and getting medical help when it is needed can be expensive.  Alan received a shock soon after arriving in Mozambique in 2011, when he contracted malaria within 2 weeks of arriving!  Blood tests, medication and lots of bed rest saw him return to full health, but unfortunately illnesses such as malaria are an every day threat in the area where our staff live.

Alan needs to make sure he visits the doctor regularly for general checkups and keeps up his immunisations, to protect him from the various bugs and germs to which he is regularly exposed.  He also need periodic checkups at the dentist.  Occasionally he has to travel across the border to Malawi for a blood test or checkup, which is about 7 hours drive each way.

This project covers the costs of Alan's anticipated medical expenses during 2012.
