The Leadership Development Programme (LDP) in Zambia operates under the leadership of Boston Mwebela, and it runs Block courses and Training of Trainers (TOT) courses.

The Block courses are village based short term leadership development programmes, and seven of these operate in various locations. The recipients of the training can be pastors or lay leaders in the church, either male or female. Courses tend to run for three years, however the timetable to which they run varies from centre to centre. For example, market gardeners prefer shorter courses more often, whereas maize and cotton growers prefer longer courses which are held less frequently and away from their peak work period. All students study part time, and there are around 10-20 students at each centre, with centres running either 4 or 8 times per year.

In order for the Block courses to run, teachers are required, which is where the TOT comes in. Selected people attend the TOT course which is centrally based in the town of Kabwe . Some biblical study is involved, however the course is primarily focussed on training in educational principles and practices. The first lot of students have graduated from the three year TOT course and are teaching the Block courses, and a second group were enrolled to commence in 2012.

The costs associated with the Block course program and the Training of Trainers courses include the salary of Boston Mwebela and the rent on his house (approximately $400 per month combined), plus food, transport, teaching materials, administration, accommodation and supplies for the students (approximately $600 per month).

This is a project which has and will continue to benefit the Zambian Baptist churches for many years to come.  Help invest in the training of their future leaders by supporting this project.
