Arthur and Debbie's Story

Arthur and Debbie have a desire to be God’s hands and feet to demonstrate His love and compassion to the Yawo people of Malawi. In the late 80s they spent three years with Global Interaction in Zambia. Arthur was involved in maintenance work and Debbie was a nurse at Fiwale Hill. They were married during this time and now have two adult children, Jonathan and Rebekah.

After returning to Australia Arthur completed Theological Studies and Debbie more nursing study. They then worked in various positions across Australia in the areas of health, teaching and church pastoral roles including cross-cultural situations. The past decade has seen them in Kalgoorlie WA where God has kept Africa in the forefront of their thinking.

Arthur has a passion for biblical teaching and assisting others to develop a sound grounding in their Christian faith. He is also keen to help others develop skills to improve their daily lives.
Debbie’s passion is for health promotion and education, particularly for women and youth and those marginalised in society. She is keen to demonstrate Gods love and compassion by helping people develop skills which allow them to take control of their own lives.

Arthur and Debbie are firm believers in community involvement and reaching out to people where they are. They like to work together with the local community to develop relationships and to share God’s love in both practical and spiritual ways. God has kept them aware over the years of the situation in Africa and has shown them that they have skills and abilities that He can use there. Now in Malawi, they look forward to seeing the Yawo people grow in their understanding of God’s love and salvation through his son Jesus Christ. They welcome the challenge to trust God to lead and provide for them as they discover together how their gifts can be best used to serve God in Malawi.
