Karen's Story
“I count it a privilege to be able to walk with applicants and candidates as they prepare for cross-cultural work, to play a part in helping them on this journey through application and training.”
Karen Newnham, an ordained and experienced Baptist minister, is married to Bruce and has three children and several grandchildren. Over the past 22 years, Karen and Bruce have served in Bangladesh, Malawi, China and Kazakhstan.
In 2003 Karen took on the role of Director of Human Resources. Her responsibilities include:
- Training new and serving staff;
- Processing applicants for service;
- Developing and implementing procedures and policies relating to staff welfare;
- Debriefing staff when they return from cross-cultural service; and
- Informing about the work of Global Interaction.
