Scott Pilgrim shares a story of God's power to change lives.
I love the power of stories. And so it has been so encouraging over the past few months to hear, write and reflect on Alice’s story. You can read more of her wonderful story of transformation here: www.globalinteraction.org.au/ChangingLives
But if you only have time for the short version today, here it is:
- Alice lives in a community with few followers of Jesus
- God called passionate Australians to live in Alice’s community
- Global Interaction sent these cross-cultural workers
- Through a series of events and circumstances, God spoke to Alice and placed our workers into our world
- She heard about the hope of Jesus in a way that made sense to her
- She became a follower of Jesus
- Alice was given the opportunity to train as a language nurturer and became the first employee of an education foundation established by our workers David and Caz
Fast forward ten years to today and Alice has now graduated from university. She is an experienced and popular language nurturer and she loves to study the Bible. God continues to use her to help family members, colleagues and friends come to know Jesus, including people with no known believers in their respective local communities. Cross-cultural workers from other mission organisations now come to Alice to study language and culture and be mentored in how to share with Muslim people.
What a wonderful story of the power of God changing lives!
We have been celebrating stories of life change throughout May Mission Month 2020. Stories like Alice’s and Babba W, a Yawo man who has seen in his life transformed by God and become a leader in his local faith community.
May 2020 wasn’t the month we were expecting and yet we are so thankful for the way so many churches and partners have engaged with us in the midst of the COVID context. Please continue to pray with me for the fruit that will come from this season – including the prayer that God will raise up new workers to join our teams around the world.
We still face some uncertain times over the remainder of 2020 and into 2021 and this brings a number of practical and financial challenges, yet we remain confident in our God to lead us through this 're-set' season.
We can only continue to do what we do because of our partner’s prayer and financial support. Looking ahead we see thriving faith communities in places where the Gospel is yet to take root. That’s a compelling vision and thank you for your partnership and investment in this Kingdom vision.
At the heart of this vision are people like Alice … let’s keep praying for her, her family and friends and our team where she lives. Let’s continue to pray for all our teams on location, still dealing day to day with the challenges of the COVID pandemic, yet still living as good neighbours, engaging with their communities and bringing the hope of Jesus in so many different ways.
