Update from the Executive Director

Scott Pilgrim shares updates on Hotline, May Mission Month and more!

Dear friends,

It has been a great privilege to join the team at Global Interaction as the new Executive Director. Yes, it has been a very challenging and stretching start in the new role, in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, but like you I can draw confidence in a God who is never distant and who can be trusted in all seasons of life.

Day by day I have been struck by the passion, commitment and dedication of our broad team – from our cross-cultural workers to donors I have chatted with, from National Office staff to volunteers in State Offices, from long-time prayer intercessors to candidates, from retired staff to long-term supporters.

Thank you for your ongoing partnership and support. We so appreciate you sticking with us. We have a wonderful story as a mission family and at the heart of our story are our people and our partners. Together we are continuing to share the hope of Jesus with people who otherwise may never hear the Good News in ways they understand.

I am looking forward to staying in regular contact with all our valued partners and from Wednesday April 22 I will be providing an update, aligned with our weekly Hotline prayer e-newsletter. You will also be able to access the update through the homepage of our website. You can subscribe to our Hotline prayer e-newsletter and other valuable resources here. Let me encourage you to subscribe and stay up-to-date with the latest news and join in praying for our mission across the globe.

Please join me in upholding our cross-cultural teams around the world at this time. Each team is serving in a unique context and the countries they serve in are at different points in the pandemic journey, but we know they all face these challenging days without many of the services and facilities we take for granted in Australia. At the same time our teams are passionately committed to continuing to creatively engage with local communities, modelling and sharing the love and hope of Jesus. I  am currently connecting each week with our Team Leaders on Zoom and I am inspired and challenged by their commitment, compassion and courageous leadership at this time.

Please also pray for many of our workers back in Australia in these uncertain times. I know those delayed from returning to their teams will value your ongoing support and will welcome opportunities to continue to engage with churches and supporters.

Given these unusual times, May Mission Month will look different in 2020, but we are looking forward to how we can still creatively engage with churches, small groups and partners across the nation. We are continuing to develop online resources for churches and I’m excited that we can all  view In Step, a special short film made for this year’s May Mission Month.  You can stay up-to-date on May Mission Month resources and support opportunities through our website here.

As we look to the future I am excited to be working with a new-look Leadership Team and you can meet the team and find out more about their passion for Global Interaction here.

Thanks again for your unique contribution to our mission family. Together we are pursuing a compelling vision. Still today, more than 40% of people around the world are unlikely to know someone they trust who can share the message of Jesus in a way that makes sense to them. This is the need we respond to together!

I look forward to connecting with you and will welcome any feedback or suggestions from you as a valued partner. Take care.

Serving Jesus Together
