Raised so far this year
17/1/2020 - We are into the final stages of this dictionary project! Thank you to everyone who has supported us in this journey. The English-Ciyawo side of the Dictionary was published at the end of 2018 and has been in use throughout the country for the last year, helping students and all Yawo people required to learn English have better support in the process and more equal opportunity.
The second side, Ciyawo-English is in the final stages. This side of the dictionary is primarily for people learning Ciyawo to help them have access to a dictionary of the most common Ciyawo words. It will help our cross-cultural workers and other expats in Malawi better learn Ciyawo. The dictionary has been fully constructed and undergone extensive local field testing and multiple reviews. The final task is to complete the second side of the dictionary to publication standard, just as the first side was, which requires four more reviews and proof-readings. This will take place over the next six months. Strictly $10,000 is needed to support this project! The project will conclude and offices close in July 2020 and a launch will be planned for 2021! Thank you again for your incredible part in this life-changing project.
20/3/2019 - 2018 was a significant year for the Dictionary Project because after 10 years of work with the dictionary team, the English-Ciyawo dictionary was publicly launched on the 20th of December by the Malawian Minister of Education, Science and Technology. A lot of dignitaries attended, including a large number of senior Yawo chiefs from all the districts in Malawi where there are significant numbers of Yawo, as well as many officials from the Ministry of Education and the government. It was a very joyful occasion which Ian, Wendy, Simeon and Ben were all able to participate in.
The event was televised and shown on the evening news, and it featured in major newspapers throughout the country.Global Interaction was able to donate 500 copies of the dictionary to the Ministry of Education, on behalf of you, our faithful and generous supporters, for use in primary and secondary schools. A donation of a further 200 copies was also given by the Australian High Commission in Zimbabwe. Please click here to support the team.

2019 sees Ian and the dictionary team focusing on the second side of the dictionary and preparing for the publication of it! To do this, Ian will visit Malawi five times this year to assist in concluding the project. We value your continued prayer and financial support as we celebrate this project and give God all the glory for its progress to date.
We want to thank you for joining Ian over the past decade. This project would not be possible without your partnership. Your generous gifts over the years have helped to cover practical costs, including utilities, software, equipment and wages as well as the publishing of the first side of the dictionary.
Gifts to this project are TAX DEDUCTIBLE.
With your support, Ian and the team will finalise the project this year and help bridge the gap for Yawo children so that the next generation can receive an education and have greater opportunities for their future.
