"Hi, we're Mat and Shannon and we're part of the Outback team. We live in a base in Kalkaringi and serve in the Northern Territory.

Joining with God in His work is something that we’re all called to do, and such a big part of that is people's relationship to God and to one another. And so the foundation upon any ministry, therefore, is relationship with people as we seek to help people grow in their relationships with God and one another. And so that's a big part of what we seek to do here. Over time, doors to relationships are opened and we hope and trust this will continue to help people grow and strengthen in their walk with Jesus.

Relationships create the places where genuine connections become fruitful and life giving.

Last year, we went through a significant flood with our new community having just shifted up here from Yuendumu. We all were evacuated and that laid the foundation for a lot of connections with people that helped us throughout this last year to build relationships and continue to grow from that point.

We've been able to connect really well with the school through our kids attending and through our presence there as a family. Some of the school staff have gotten to know us really well and students and part of the way through last year, the principal approached me about being a chaplain at the school, which has opened up great relationships too.

We've got connections through Bible studies with church and just through living life, alongside people going to the shop clinic, wherever we might be, connecting with people and praying that God will make those relationships fruitful as He can and does all over the world.

We're excited for the things that are coming up. We have training camp coming up in the middle of this year. We're really excited to continue to see God's people in the various communities come together and grow together and strengthen one another and learn more about God. And as they help their communities follow Jesus.

We have a great foundation to build from now and we're really thankful for that and pray that God would continue to give us more opportunities. Pray especially for this chaplain role at school and opportunities to share the love of Jesus with kids in practical and tangible ways, as well as through good conversations with them and their families and with the staff at school as well.

Thank you for your partnership. It's not possible for us to do this without it. We feel so loved and supported and we just wanted to say thanks for that."
