The PEOPLE AND THE Need
Papua is the largest province of Indonesia and is situated on the western half of the island of New Guinea and nearby islands. Indigenous Papuans make up half of the population and the rest are migrants from other Indonesian islands. Most Papuans identify themselves as Christian, however, there is a growing influence of Islam, Buddhism and Hinduism.
Global Interaction has been working in Papua for 60 years. The local churches are involved in evangelistic outreach to many remote areas of Papua. Mark Holt is in the role of Country Consultant following and will visit Papua a number of times each year. The purpose of these visits is to journey with the churches and their leaders in areas of leadership development, discipleship and evangelism.
